Field Care
Proper field care ensures a great mount.
A bird you intend to mount should be retrieved by hand, if possible.
Never ring the neck of a bird you want to mount. Instead, lay the bird on its chest and apply pressure to its back with your knee.
Always handle your bird by its feet or bill in the field.
Do not try to wash off blood. This is easily done during the mounting process.
Keep your bird as dry and clean as possible, and out of direct sunlight.
Never gut your bird.
Freeze your bird ASAP. Fold the head back and double bag in freezer bags.
